I enjoyed this project. First, I really liked the topic. When Mr.Goble originally proposed the Epic Object topic, turning an inanimate object into an object that portrays a type of emotion, my mind started racing. My ideas ranged everywhere from a bouncy ball to a piggy bank, but I ultimately decided on the idea of running shoes. The aspect of the shoes leading a person to an end destination seemed intriguing. After some class discussion I solidified my story line and started my story board. The story board was a helpful tool in visualizing the story. In addition, obtaining my shots was somewhat difficult. My sister, who I used as one of my actors, strongly disliked when I would ask her to redo a shot or change the way she moved. After some explaining, I helped her understand that producing videos is always a team effort and that striving for the best result possible is more important than few extra seconds it takes to reshoot. Giving up early and the mentality that "It's good enough" is never acceptable while attempting to create thoughtful videos. Often, I need to teach this lesson to myself as well, remind myself to invest the time and energy needed to complete my best work. Overall, producing this video was a fun, enlightening experience. I really appreciated the opportunity to push myself to imagine a creative video and portray a story with a purpose through an object. Click here to watch.
